Swim Lessons

Jane and Ike just finished up swim lessons. I thought it would be a good idea to get them in the first sessions so that we could get it over with and enjoy the summer, bad idea. We did them at the AF Rec and they took off the bubble and it was freezing about everyday. One day Jane went in the rain and one day was canceled because it was like 50 degrees. Needless to say, we won't be doing the first session again, but Jane and Ike were both good sports and loved it. Ike was so cold the entire time, but Jane really liked it and even learned a lot. Thanks to Grandma O who came on the last day to take pictures.

8 Random Things Tag

Candy tagged me for this one. I've never done this before, but here goes nothing. Here are 8 random things about me, if I can come up with that many:

1. It was always my dream to be a Rodeo Queen one day. I always wanted to have the big hair, cowboy hat, sparkly shirt, wranglers, and boots. Then have a really pretty black horse that I rode around the arena really fast with the little wave!

2. I am very picky about how I load the dishes in the dishwasher. I never had a dishwasher until I got a house. Now I have to put everything in a certain spot and the silverware all has to be together, organized, spoons, forks, knives, etc. all in there own compartment. Weird, I know.

3. My two favorite things to do for housework are vacuuming and mowing the lawn, especially now with the new lawn mower Amy bought Adam. I love to see the clean lines and the smell of the fresh cut grass.

4. I would really like to someday learn how to golf. I think it would be fun to take golf lessons someday and then maybe even get really good at it. I think it would be something fun to do with Adam.

5. I would love to run another marathon someday. I ran one when I was in high school with my best friend, Candy, and I would like to try to do another someday.

6. I love surprises! I love to get them and give them!

7. I love to read children's books! I love to read them with my kids and like to get them as gifts. You can never go wrong with a cute story for a gift.

8. The last random little thing about me is that I love jazzercise! I haven't been able to find it here in American Fork, but loved to do it when I lived up in SLC. They have it in Lyman and I have gone to do it a few times with Bonnie. It is so much fun and a pretty good workout!

There you are the 8 random things about me that I know you were all dying to know. I now tag, Bonnie, Shunae, Katie, Amy, and Myken. I will be checking your blogs soon!

Adam's Birthday!

I have the most wonderful husband ever. He is such a great husband and dad. I love him so much and I am so grateful to be his wife. Adam had his 31st birthday on Sunday and we celebrated it at the Olson's with dinner. Adam shares a birthday with his dad, Kim. Kim is a wonderful dad and grandpa. The kids love him and he loves to tease them. This is a picture of the birthday boy's!

This is Adam enjoying one of his gifts for his birthday. Amy, his sister, went all out and bought him this lawn mower. Can you believe that?! I am still in shock. It is AWESOME! Thanks Amy. I got him an Ipod, he got money, cowboy boots, and a great dinner. It was a fun birthday!

Katie had the great idea to get the grandkids together for a picture for grandpa's birthday. Amy met us on her lunch break and took this darling picture of the kids, not all of them turned out like this. By the end we just said let's get one with everyone at least looking at the camera.

Ta-Da

This is Calin at about 6 months old. He is doing really good. I was trying to get a cute smile of him, but I would miss it every time. He did have his six month check-up and is doing great:
Calin Adam Olson
6 months
25 3/4" long
15 lbs. 10 oz.
43.5 cm head
He was about the 50% for everything. He is growing big and we love it.

I believe dad thinks he he older then he really is. This scares me to death, but Calin just loves it and smiles SO BIG!

Fort

Today I was cleaning house and Jane and Ike thought it would be fun to build a fort, Jane kept on calling it a "fork" and said that she could build a better one then mom. This is what it turned out to look like. She made a bed inside and was trying to get Ike to take a nap. She is such a little bossy thing. It is her way all the time. We are really trying to work on this. She has a little friend, Ellie, and they play together a lot, but she is just so bossy to her. I don't know what to do about it. Any suggestions would be great.

Jane and Ike in the fort! They were getting along and playing so well together. That is really rare. They are usually fighting about something. I was so surprised Ike didn't ruin the fort. They had a lot of fun together.

Motherhood

On sunday I had to teach Relief Society in my ward. The lesson was on the conference talk given by Elder Ballard titled, Daughters of God. I loved the talk and actually enjoyed preparing the lesson. I am terrified of teaching and have really struggled with the calling, but it sure has been such a blessing for me. I have learned so much and am striving everyday to be a better person. Anyway, the lesson was on Motherhood and the joys of being a mom and what our families can do to help out us mom's. It is so much work and everyday is so demanding and it can get old, but this talk was so inspiring to me and really made me appreciate motherhood and what we do and go through. This is a picture of my sister, Bonnie, my mom, and me. I really look up to these two as role models to me of great mothers. I don't have a picture of my mother-in-law who is also such a wonderful example to me of a great mom. Thanks so much you guys for all your examples, support, advice, and love. I really love you and appreciate you!

Swim Pool Fun

The kids are starting swim lessons next week and I thought I'd venture out to see how they'd do in the pool. Jane took lessons last summer and Ike did the mom & tot class with me last year as well. He cried the entire time. I am hoping this year is better. Jane and Ike both loved just playing in the pool. Ike was a little out of control, he wanted to do it all alone.
Ike's words, "my turn" Cal was super good as usual and just sat in the water with me. I was able just to get a few pictures.

Cal lovin' the water!
Jane and Ike splashin' around!
