This weekend Adam talked me and the kids in to going to set up his camp for the deer hunt this week. What was I thinking....it all started on Friday when Cal didn't feel well. Then Adam got home from work late and had to still pack the truck with everything we were taking camping. To say the least, we left a little late. Adam's brother, Zach, came with us, thank heavens! We went down south and got there about dark. It was way to late to try to set up the tent at this point, so we ended staying in a hotel in Fillmore. Are bags were all packed in the back of the truck with everything on them, so we had nothing. We slept in our underwear. Cal woke up in the night screaming, he had diarrhea, and was so sick. Ike had a coughing fit and couldn't stop.
But somehow we made it through the night.
The funny part is, Zach and Ike were sleeping in a bed and Ike woke up at about midnight and said, Mom can I sleep in your bed? At that point Zach woke up and said it's alright buddy, which Ike replied, I don't have no covers mom. We all started laughing.
In the morning, Ike woke up and said, Wow dad, I sure like this camping!
We also woke up to an ant infested table. SICK! I was glad to be leaving the hotel (didn't think I'd ever say that)
We finally headed up the mountain to find a spot to camp. There were hunters everywhere. After a lot of driving around, we finally just decided to set up camp in the only spot available. I was so glad Zach was there to help Adam set up this huge tent. It has a stove and everything in it. We got all unpacked and set up, only to discover that Adam and I had forgot the cots and pillows. It was going to be another long night! (but it was actually not bad. The kids slept great!) We all got settled in and then had a huge fly infested tent. It was so hot and warm in the tent that we had so many flies. It was so funny. Zach and I were trying to kill them all. It was terrible. When we left there the flies were all over inside our truck. We couldn't get rid of them. It was CRAZY! We were just laughing!
We finally got to go look for deer! Ike was so excited. He kept telling everyone that we were going to shoot a deer, elk, moose, and bear and hang them on our wall.
Adam had got them these orange hats aren't they cute?
Dad and Cal! I know.. the binky..he's not 2 yet! Poor Cal didn't feel good the entire trip. He was such a little trooper though!
It was a fun trip, but I was so glad to get home and shower and get back to normal. We had fun as a family and made so many memories together. Joe had come down later and it was so fun to spend time with Adam's brothers. I think the boys are excited to hunt this week. Let's just hope they have a better time then we did! I'll let you know if it successful!

oh I would have been flipping out over those flies! I hate them! What a good family trip you had! Love those orange hats too!
Haha, Ike is so funny! I hope Cal feels better. He’s such a tough little guy so if he was showing that he didn’t feel good I’m sure he really didn’t feel good. :(
How fun for your kids and what good memories with their dad. Love Love Love the orange hats, so cute!
what we women don't do for our guys!
