The Delivery!

This is a post just for me so I don't forget it and to remind me of what child birth really is like. I am really pretty lucky because my pregnancy and labor and delivery is pretty easy. I don't like to be pregnant, and this is was the hardest pregnancy I've had. It wasn't even that bad, just really uncomfortable and terrible heartburn. But when I saw this little guy I forgot it all. It was really exciting during delivery, because all the nurses couldn't wait to see if it was a boy or a girl. We were all pretty excited.
I had been to the doctor on the 23rd of December for the weekly check up and was dilated to a 4 and 80% effaced. He said I could go in to labor that night or wait awhile. I really didn't want a Christmas baby so I was hoping to wait around for another week and that is what I did. On the 28th I started having contractions at about 7 pm. Adam had just gotten home and we put the kids to bed and waited around for a bit. At about 10 pm the contractions were still going and getting stronger. I didn't want to wait to long (that is what I did with Cal and then couldn't get the epidural), so I told Adam to stay with the kids and I would go the hospital and see if I was really in labor. I went to the hospital and they checked me and I was at about a 5 and contracting. They said to stay for an hour and they would monitor me. It was about 30 minutes and the nurse came back and checked me again and said yes I was in labor and to call my husband. Adam got there and I was taken in to get the epidural. I was so nervous for this for some reason and then when he was giving me the shot he got to close to my nerve and I had some terrible pain for a while and my blood pressure dropped really low. They gave me some medicine and after that it was great. The doctor came in and broke my water and after 3 pushes Waylon Kim Olson was born at 2:09 am at 6 lbs. 18 1/2 inches long and darling. I was so glad he was here and excited for another boy to add to the craziness of our house!

Adam went home and got the kids ready to come see their new brother. Cal had said it was a boy the entire time and Ike said that he wanted a giraffe so he could sell it. He was afraid he would get in to all his pirate stuff. Jane really wanted a sister, but once she saw Waylon she was in love with him and just wanted to hold him forever.

Happy Family!
As I was sitting there I thought, four kids seems like a lot!

You went to the hospital by yourself?! you are such a trooper woman! I Love all these pictures, Waylon is already such a loved little boy with so much family around! I love the all boy picture and how tiny he looks in the carseat.
Wish I was there to bring you dinner!
